Shipping information

Most customers ask us to ship orders at the Best Time for Spring Potato Planting based on our 50-State Chart.

However, we do ship our Seed Potatoes 52 Weeks/Year, whenever you want them.  We harvest our crop of Organic Maine Certified Seed Potatoes in September. We begin shipping this New Crop by November 1 (sometimes earlier) and continue shipping from our on-farm underground Potato Storage, every week through the Winter & Spring & Summer until October 31.

All new potato tubers grown anywhere must go through a Dormancy Period after harvest before tubers will sprout and grow. This dormancy lasts 4-8 weeks. For planting after December 1, the dormancy concern becomes a non-issue because our Seed Potatoes will have completed their rest period and will sprout and grow when warmed up to room temperature.

Note: Orders which include 45 pound carton(s) of Certified Seed Potatoes and shipped after mid-November and prior to the week of March 24 or between July 1 and September 30 customarily require a $16.00 insulated box fee. If insulated packaging should not be necessary, you will receive a shipping refund automatically. Feel free to call (207) 429-9765 (M-F 8:00-5:00pm ET) for a Rate Quote.

If you want a garden moment that stops people in their tracks—and makes them ask what you planted—this is it. This bundle gives you every poppy variety we offer, so you get early bloomers, dramatic statement flowers, and shimmering Shirley mixes in one clean hit.

Includes 4 organic poppy packets:

  • Organic California Orange Poppy (~70 days) — Glorious orange blooms, blooms early, thrives even in poor soil, great in containers, and loved by bees & pollinators. (Perennial often treated as an annual in the North.)
  • Organic Elka Breadseed Poppy (Papaver somniferum) (~90 days) — Very large flowers in pale pink to snowy white with dusky purple blotches. Produces plump pale seeds suitable for baking/confections; best sown where it will grow in late fall or very early spring; self-sows where happy.
  • Organic Mother of Pearl Shirley Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) (~65 days) — Wide-petaled singles with a shimmering, iridescent range (mauve/gray/blue/orange/white). Tall, airy stems; often self-sows.
  • Organic Double Whoopee Shirley Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) (~65 days) — Fully double, informal cottage-garden glamour in pink-to-red, milk-white, and occasional picotee. Often self-sows.
