Shipping information

Most customers ask us to ship orders at the Best Time for Spring Potato Planting based on our 50-State Chart.

However, we do ship our Seed Potatoes 52 Weeks/Year, whenever you want them.  We harvest our crop of Organic Maine Certified Seed Potatoes in September. We begin shipping this New Crop by November 1 (sometimes earlier) and continue shipping from our on-farm underground Potato Storage, every week through the Winter & Spring & Summer until October 31.

All new potato tubers grown anywhere must go through a Dormancy Period after harvest before tubers will sprout and grow. This dormancy lasts 4-8 weeks. For planting after December 1, the dormancy concern becomes a non-issue because our Seed Potatoes will have completed their rest period and will sprout and grow when warmed up to room temperature.

Note: Orders which include 45 pound carton(s) of Certified Seed Potatoes and shipped after mid-November and prior to the week of March 24 or between July 1 and September 30 customarily require a $16.00 insulated box fee. If insulated packaging should not be necessary, you will receive a shipping refund automatically. Feel free to call (207) 429-9765 (M-F 8:00-5:00pm ET) for a Rate Quote.

Pre-Order Now. Garlic Shipments Begin Sept 2026. Rocambole-type, medium-spicy and winter hardy. Brought over to North America in the early 1900s. Our most popular Garlic. Hardneck. Approx. 40 cloves per 1 lb. Plant the individual cloves 6” apart in the Fall for Harvest next Summer. Garlic is perfect for planting in garden beds. In the North, mulch with straw after the ground has frozen to prevent damage from freeze-thaw heaving. Once growth begins in Spring work into the soil around Garlic plants a high Nitrogen fertilizer such as Organic Oasis. Garlic is shallow rooted so keep well watered. We recommend mulching between plants with straw to conserve water and control weeds. Our Organic Red Russian garlic is a good keeper, very easy to peel, and has nice large cloves. Harvest when the outer two or three leaves begin to dry down. Finish drying in an airy shed protected from direct sunlight. Store long term cool and dry.
