Description
New! (Consolida ajacis) Hardy annual/biennial Glorous spikes atop airy, fern-like foliage are borne in a wide range of blues, from pale sky-blue through ultramarine to deep midnight blue-violet. The tall (to 4 feet), straight spikes lend a vertical feel, whether in cottage gardens, at the back of the border or as cut flowers in arrangements. A cool-season grower, it does best in spring-early summer in warm climates, but will bloom straight through to first hard frost in cooler-summer locations. And yes, the flowers draw hummingbirds, bees and other pollinators. Sow late fall or early spring; often self-sows. (Caution: all parts of this plant are poisonous if taken internally) ~360 seeds/gm (Pkt 100 seeds, plants 15′, more from transplant.)
