Always Uphill in the Snow

It's a very rare year when Northern Maine doesn't get snow in April. This year has been no exception. After getting loaded with a pallet of Organic Maine Certified Seed Potatoes bound for a northeast market farmer, this Ross Express truck experienced trouble heading out, failing to navigate a few inches of slippery April snow.
The first hundred and fifty-feet away from our buildings towards the Town-plowed road is at a slight incline. All winter long, with the driveway frozen and plowed, trucks have no problem making their way in and out. But by late March, with the sun getting higher in the sky, days getting above freezing and the roadway beginning to thaw, even a little snowfall can become an issue for big trucks, especially if they're outfitted with highway tires.
In this photo taken the other day, using our four-wheel-drive Ford F250 plow truck - with tire chains on all four tires - Caleb provides just enough juice to tug the truck out of its temporary troubles.
