NEW WOOD PRAIRIE PACKING SHED UP AND RUNNING. Like most building projects this major expansion of our Packing Shed too

NEW WOOD PRAIRIE PACKING SHED UP AND RUNNING. Like most building projects this major expansion of our Packing Shed took longer than we expected to complete.

But now, except for some Finish List jobs, we’re mostly done with the building phase. This week we’ve been turning our full attention to gearing up for the peak Wood Prairie Organic Maine Certified Seed Potatoes season right ahead of us.

In this photo taken yesterday, working on those Organic Seed orders in the foreground are Caleb (left) and his brother Peter (right). In the background, Brad is getting ahead bagging up Organic Seed Potatoes. Peter’s young and sweet-dispositioned German Shepherd, Loki, is wandering about keeping track of the packing crew.

That peak season follows Spring northward beginning in Florida, South Texas and Southern California. Peak season runs from February through mid-May when we shift gears again and begin to plant our own crop of Organic Certified Seed. We keep shipping through Summer until we exhaust our supply of refrigerated Organic Seed Potatoes.

Our new building is bright, light and because it’s super-insulated, easy to heat. This past week we were focused on shipping orders out to Florida and Hawaii, in addition to a score of other States looking forward to Spring.
