GETTING READY FOR FIRST ICF BLOCK CONCRETE POUR. The 18″ X 48″ ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) blocks are being positioned on the heavy footing poured ten days ago. Once they are laid about 10-foot high – the halfway mark – the blocks will be systematically outfitted with ‘rebar’ (metal reinforcing bar), braced and ready to be filled with concrete.
Next week a concrete pumper truck will make its way north from Bangor and be utilized to defy gravity and pump into place the Redi-mix concrete brought to the farm by local concrete mixer trucks.
The packing shed in view with the galvanized roof and siding will in time disappear to be expanded and absorbed into the new super structure. Right now it is chock full of stored organic farm and cover crop seed.
Dry protected space is at a premium these days. Northern Maine has had over 10″of rain in the last five weeks. Caleb, Megan & Jim
