Our organic potato crop is now growing out in the field. Potatoes are harvested in September and October each year and are available to ship to you at that time.
Seed Potatoes: After Harvest, potato tubers must go through a dormancy period before they will sprout and grow. This dormancy will last 4-10 weeks. For planting after December 1, the dormancy concern is a non-issue because our potatoes have completed their rest period here and will easily sprout and grow when warmed to room temperature.
Elba has a excellent flavor baked as well as boiled. Impressive all-purpose potato with good disease resistance and yield. Great baker. 110-135 days to maturity.

Every year we try a new variety from WPF. This year I ordered Elba and when I pullud up the plant at harvest time and there were 5 -7 absolutely perfect and beautiful potatoes waiting for me, I was in love! Jim and Megan, as always thanks for your lovely products, for the care you take with your farm, for your inspiration to "do it right" and for your amazing Elba seed potatoes! Grateful in MA, Katrina and Nick Scala
A pretty potato to grow

I am only giving this potato a 4 rating because it ranked the lowest out of the 15 varieties for germination. All 15 varieties were started and planted using the exact same methods and we had a 47% germination failure rate with this potato for some reason. My guess is that this particular potato just didn't have as many eyes as other varieties, but I did not count eyes on any of the seed potatoes I planted (I'll collect that data next season, maybe). However, the reason I still rank this potato a 4 is because it is a very pretty potato and even with the 47% germination failure, it still ranked in my top 5 potato varieties in pounds/plant yield (along with Yukon Gold, Cranberry Red and Island Sunshine). The Elba also ranked in the top 5 of the 15 varieties planted that was not preferred by the Colorado Potato Beetle. So all things considered, I will be planting the Elba next season.
