About Us

Dear friends,

Greetings and welcome to our new Catalog. For those of you who are new to WoodPrairie Farm, we welcome you. By way of introduction, we are a small Certified Organic family farm in the State of Maine that market our products, and those of a number of other Certified Organic farmers that we know and trust, directly to our customers through our print catalog and this webstore. Our modest scale allows us to focus on producing high quality organic goods for you and your family. We tend to your needs with great care. We know that its your business and goodwill that keeps us in business and for that we are grateful. So let us be part of your kitchen and your garden, by supplying you with good food and good seed.

There are lots of ways to get a hold of us; We are here to serve you:

Directions to Wood Prairie Family Farm:

Take Interstate-95 north from southern Maine to its end in Houlton. At the bottom of the I-95 Houlton Exit (302) ramp, make a left onto U.S. Rte 1.  Travel north on Rte 1 for about 22 miles until you get to the village of Bridgewater.
Noticing the Snow Cemetary on the right, continue on Rte 1, descending down a gentle hill into the village.  One-quarter mile from the cemetery cross the minor concrete bridgeThen in another two hundred feet (and just before the large white Bridgewater Baptist Church) turn left onto Bootfoot Road. (If you get to the Bridgewater Post Office or Gulf Gas/Convenience Store you have traveled too far).
Bootfoot Road curves past the Smokey-the-Bear sign and the Bridgewater Town Office then straightens out and heads due west for 3 miles.  Follow Bootfoot Road to its end.  At the end of Bootfoot, you will come to a “T” which requires you to make a left or a right turn.  Turn left onto Kinney Road.   Drive about a third of a mile on Kinney Road. We are the first snow-plowed driveway on the right (49 Kinney Road).

The Safe Seed Pledge

"Agriculture and seeds provide the basis upon which our lives depend. We must protect this foundation as a safe and genetically stable source for future generations. For the benefit of all famers, gardeners and comsumers who want an alternative, we pledge that we do not knowingly buy or sell genetically engineered seeds or plants. The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive meethods and between genera, families or kingdoms, poses great biological risks as well as economical, political, and cultural threats. We feel that genetically engineered varieties have been insufficiently tested prior to public release. More research and testing is necessary to further assess the potential risks of genetically engineered seeds. Further, we wish to support agricultural progress that leads to healthier soils, genetically diverse agricultural ecosystems and ultimately people and communities." WoodPrairie Farm joins over 100 seed companies in signing this pledge. To obtain a complete listing, call 617-868-0870 or visit The Council for Responsible Genetics List.
