Close to mother earth.
Caleb rides with mom, Megan Gerritsen, digging Rose Gold potatoes on
Wood Prairie Farm near Bridgewater, Maine. Leland Daugherty, an intern
sponsored by an organic growers association, helps out. Megan and
husband Jim sell 17 potato varieties, harvesting by han to avoid
bruising. Certified organic by two trade groups, the farm grows
potatoes, grains, and clover in rotation. Soil fertility is sustained
with barnyard manure, fish scales, sawdust, and plant residue, known as

Prairie Family Farm to the Next Generation.
Caleb’s new crowdfunding campaign – entitled Keep
This Organic Legacy Growing – Wood Prairie Family Farm
- went live on BarnRaiser. Please help by contributing
today. Crowdfunding campaigns which get off to a fast start are the most likely to succeed.
As we announced in the last Seed Piece:
This home-grown Media project has had a purpose. It
is part of a new
Crowd Funding campaign the Next Generation of Wood Prairie
Farmers are putting together which will
soon be launched. As we greet
this New Year, now is the time-to-transition
Wood Prairie Family Farm
over to our children Peter, Caleb, Sarah
and Amy. After
40 years we love
it here and you can bet we’ll still be
around. Like all family farms,
we’ll help out wherever we’re needed.
video (2:36) accompanies the Campaign.
The video explains the timing and need for this important campaign.
There are over
a dozen fun Rewards which Caleb, Peter and their
sisters Sarah & Amy, will love to share with you – including a
package of delicious Certified
Organic Bacon at the $100 level from our good
friends at ninth-generation Tide Mill Organic Farm in Downeast Maine.
As you may remember, because of support from people like you,
three-and-a-half-years-ago we succeeded in a crowdfunding campaign
established to raise funds for building materials in constructing a
much needed Farm
Equipment Repair Shop.
On many levels that Shop campaign was a tremendous success.

Caleb’s BarnRaiser campaign will be short and will take place with
in order to fit into our busy Winter schedule. In order to
up with the intense pace of shipping organic seed orders beginning in
February, we are planning to conclude the campaign towards the end of
January in a few brief weeks.
Please help the Next Generation - Caleb and his
siblings - by
contributing today. We understand that
not everyone is able to contribute. It will help if you would
this campaign with your friends, family and networks.
Thanks so much.
